How many times has an IT consultant given you advice that resolves one issue, but causes another… simply because they went in without knowing the full extent of the situation?
At Sensei, we avoid “jumping” head first into a problem. We don’t make changes that affect the “apparent” issue but ignore other problems that may exist. Instead, we take a step back and survey the entire situation. Because most of the information any consultant gathers must be gained through listening and observing, we put great emphasis on employing consultants with this skill set. We discuss with you and/or your current IT staff the existing problem and the resolution you wish to achieve. Based on that data, we then look at the infrastructure as a whole and look to see how systems work together, and impact each other.
Once we have that understanding, we will develop a solution that is appropriate for your firm. We provide you a time-phased plan for documentation, implementation, and training that's clear and realistic, as well as customizable to suit your needs.
We will assist you with scoping the project, setting criteria, and understanding any trade-offs associated with a solution. Because we actually have the ability to “do” what we recommend, we can oversee the projects from concept to creation. We won’t recommend a solution and distance ourselves by asking you to have someone else implement it. We stand by our recommendations and will also install and provide follow-up support for the solutions we recommend.
The whole point of hiring a consultant is to get a job done well. Choosing Sensei will make this happen on time and on budget. We have the reputation, expertise and credentials to provide true solutions… not slap a band-aid on a problem that goes deeper than you think.

DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT / DOCUMENT ASSEMBLY

Today's world is all about data, and the most important questions for anyone with a large amount of it are “Where is it and how can I get to it?”
As IT consultants, those are questions we hear all too often. One answer is the implementation of a Document Management System (DMS). With A DMS, you don't have to "know" where you saved the document. The DMS takes care of knowing for you, significantly reducing the 'human error' factor that contributes to the "mysterious disappearance" of documents (i.e., can't remember the exact folder where you saved the document, typos in the name, saved in the wrong folder, someone else saved the document and you can't get in touch with them to ask where they saved it, etc.) of documents.
A DMS always knows where the document is located. It also tracks when the document is moved, copied, opened, viewed, edited, e-mailed or saved, as well as who performs each of those actions. A DMS can increase productivity, resulting in more billable hours and a better bottom line. If an attorney bills at $280/hour and saves 15 minutes a day by not having to manually find documents, this represents a daily savings of $75.00, or $375.00 per week…per attorney. In addition to saving time, a DMS nearly eliminates accidental document deletions and save-overs. You can also save and track multiple versions of the same document. If your firm submits documents to large agencies, it will benefit from the version control built into the DMS.
Security is another great feature of a DMS. A DMS not only allows you to set a password on documents, but also allows you to decide who can see if the document exists, as well as who can read it, who can write to it, who can re-categorize the document, who can delete the document, and who can alter the security settings on a document.
Sensei provides world-class document management functionality in a package that is affordable and manageable.

The rise of the mobile workforce has driven the evolution of remote access technologies. Your professionals need secure off-site access to your business’s technology infrastructure, and Sensei can help make that happen.
Our team of certified IT consultants can assist with your mobile and remote computing needs, from Terminal Services, Citrix, SSL VPNs for access to network resources, to securely accessing e-mail and network documents using Web portals, Blackberries, Goodlink, and ActiveSync-compatible handheld devices.

Technology assessments and audits are an important part of any ongoing program of infrastructure maintenance.
They help you determine the state of your network and its systems, to see where improvements can be made.
The purpose of any audit is to compare your current practices against best practices. Through this comparison, an audit seeks out gaps (whether in policy, procedure, or technology) in your current practices, and then analyzes them to provide baseline recommendations for improvement.
Auditing is one of the few ways to fully explore and define the state of a particular asset. As part of Sensei's auditing process, we audit documentation, servers (hardware, operating system, patches and warranties, etc), security (password policies, firewall, wireless, physical, disaster recovery, etc), network topology, application policies, software, and network services (antivirus management, antispam filtering, server patching processes, etc).
Once the assessment/audit has been completed, we'll present you with a detailed report that will not only identify areas needing improvement, but areas that are satisfactory. We'll also provide you with specific recommendations for dealing with the issues we find, to help you improve your network, systems, and processes.

DISASTER RECOVERY / BUSINESS CONTINUITY

Sometimes your firm can be threatened by natural disasters (like earthquakes or hurricanes), accidents, or even terrorism.
Circumstances might make it impossible for you to access your physical worksite due to catastrophic destruction. What do you do to keep your business running?
Call Sensei before disaster strikes, to help you develop, implement and test a Business Continuity Plan.
For many, creating a solid Disaster Recovery or Business Continuity Plan raises more questions than answers. Sensei consultants can help you fill in the blanks.
In some cases, a disaster can be minor, as small as the failure of a hard drive on your server. Sometimes disasters can be so large that even keeping your business afloat is a major challenge. No matter what size catastrophy your firm faces, our disaster recovery planning and consulting services will design a plan that will protect, restore, and maintain critical services.
Every business needs a formal Disaster Recovery Plan. Let Sensei help you establish your business continuity plan, set business continuity goals, test the plan, and evaluate the results of the testing.

Generally with "good" comes some "bad." In today's world of evolving and ever-changing technologies, we can become more productive than ever before. Unfortunately, every advance leads to a new threat to your network and systems.
If you don't have suitable security measures in place, your business’s data and the productivity of your employees are both at risk.
Having some of the highest industry-standard security certifications available, Sensei consultants understand the security challenges that law firms and companies face. We help our clients by developing solutions that significantly reduce risk related to business operations.
To help you reduce your risks, Sensei offers:
Security Assessments
Without understanding where your vulnerabilities lie, and what they are, how can you reduce them? Understanding potential security threats and vulnerabilities is just as important as the solutions you implement. We're not just talking about vulnerabilities that exist on the Internet. Most threats come from within. Internal threats are usually more devastating than threats from the Internet. Sensei can train your employees in social engineering and safe computing. We can also help you defend against those employees who might be tempted to steal your data, or the disgruntled, who might attempt to destroy it. For our clients, understanding the current state of your security infrastructure is the first step in developing a suitable (and compliant) security infrastructure.
Security Design
After completing a security assessment and having a full understanding of where your risks exist, Sensei can help you design a security infrastructure that meets your needs, including network topology, device placement, and connectivity.
We can also help you develop a multilayered defense against directed attacks from internal employees, hackers, viruses, and worms.
Security Testing
Using a variety of tools, we can simulate being the “bad guys” to confirm whether your networking infrastructure can be compromised by an intruder who has no inside knowledge of how your network is configured. We can also test it, mimicking an employee with malicious intent. This testing provides a level of comfort that your security system is working as intended, helping keep your network as safe as possible.

NETWORK MONITORING AND SUPPORT

Real-time network monitoring helps ensure your core infrastructure resources are available and performing at optimal levels.
Under Sensei’s Infrastructure Guardian plan, your network is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, giving us the data and insight our consultants need to diagnose and address network issues before they severely impact end-user productivity and customer service.
With Sensei watching over your network, our consultants are alerted to a wide range of problems and potential problems with your servers, sending alerts back to our consultants if problems are detected.
Sensei’s support staff has extensive experience analyzing the alerts sent out by the monitored devices, so we can determine which alerts are critical and which can wait to be addressed during a regular maintenance visit, saving you money and downtime.
Under Sensei’s watchful eye, you’ll identify most problems before they have a major business impact, and lower your IT costs by scheduling downtime and repairs in advance instead of needing emergency service when important components stop working.
Our 24/7 network monitoring service monitors server health and provides our consultants the ability to analyze alerts, monitor critical services, disk space, server patch status and even storage array health. In addition to the 24/7 monitoring, Sensei’s monitoring package includes a weekly review of backup logs, monthly installation of security patches, monthly audits to identify vulnerable computers, and semi-annual installation of available server BIOS and firmware updates!
